Ever wondered how the most innovative minds of today got to be so successful? It’s not just coincidence. They each possess qualities that allow them to think differently from the rest of the world—and you can have them too.
That’s why we asked six entrepreneurs from FounderSociety the following question:
Q. What’s one trait every creative leader possesses and why?
1. Modesty
Be modest enough to let those you lead influence you, and allow the team to feel a part of the contribution process. A creative leader should always allow their team to have a voice, from brainstorming sessions down to the delivery of the final product. —Jordan Gurrieri, Blue Label Labs
2. Decisiveness
As a leader, you have to make decisions every day that determine the course of your business. From small decisions to large ones, all of them move your business in different directions. Having a strong, well-thought-out mission statement and knowing exactly where you want your business to go will help guide you when you have to make decisions quickly and effectively. —Marco Mottola, Trigger Digital
3. Passion
Passion is about believing in your idea. Having passion creates a drive to persevere when you are tired, commit when things look bleak, and have the conviction to make the idea a reality. —Jessica Baker, Aligned Signs
4. Intuition
One thing almost every creative leader has in common is a good sense of intuition. They know how to listen to their gut when it comes to their craft, and they use that to create incredible work. The difference between someone who’s just creative and someone who’s a creative leader is that the latter understands how to harness their intuition, ignore unnecessary perfectionism, and forge ahead. —Steven Buchwald, Buchwald & Associates
5. Calm
Every leader is often faced with difficult decisions and is placed under a lot of pressure. Being confident and calm is the key to thinking of new ideas and making good choices. —Ajmal Saleem, Suprex Learning
6. Curiosity
I don’t believe it’s a big secret that reading boosts creativity, among other positive benefits. A great example is J.K Rowling, the first-ever billionaire author, who read absolutely anything as a child and her success speaks for itself. If there is anything that can help your creativity it’s reading. – Robert Gerov, Vokseo
